If you are planning on travelling distance to attractions, we would recommend that you contact the venues directly in advance to avoid disappointment.
If you, or any of your party have a new persistant cough, or develop a fever of 38C, we would instead advise you to use the NHS's dedicated website for professional advice.
Set on the southern shore of the loch, RSPB Loch Leven nature reserve offers a great day out for families, nature lovers and wildlife watchers alike.Formerly known as Vane Farm, we bought this reserve in 1967 as a centre for environmental education and it is still a fantastic place for children to explore and discover nature today.Climb the trail through the woodland to the top of Vane Hill for a spectacular view over the Kinross-shire hills and countryside, or meander down to the wetland trail where our three hides allow you to get really close to nature. In the summer, you could see ospreys on the loch, and in the winter, thousands of pink-footed geese, swans and ducks make the reserve their home. Our café serves delicious, local and ethical food all year-round, all with a fantastic view over Loch Leven itself.
RSPB Loch Leven visitor centre is open from 10 am to 5 pm daily (to 4 pm from Christmas Eve until New Year). Closed on Christmas Day, Boxing Day, New Year’s Day and 2 January. The trails and hides are open 24 hours a day throughout the year. The café takes hot food orders until 3 pm, and serves refreshments, snacks and cakes until 4 pm.
Entry is free for RSPB members. Non-members: adults £5, children £1, concessions £3 and family £10.
Birds are easy to see all year-round, but you can hire a pair of binoculars from reception to help you get a closer look. Our friendly staff and volunteers can assist with wildlife identification, provide help and answer questions.
We have binoculars and wildlife explorer rucksacks for hire from reception, or children can get spotting in our monthly wildlife challenge. For younger children, borrow a bird bingo card to take on your walk. There are interactive cameras in the cafe and viewing area. We also run a programme of family and children’s events throughout the year.
Other than assistance dogs, dogs are not permitted on RSPB Loch Leven’s wetland and woodland trails or in the picnic area. Dogs are allowed along the Loch Leven Heritage Trail in accordance with the Scottish Outdoor Access Code.
